Survivors who are at a place in their healing process in which they are capable of speaking publicly of their victimization are encouraged to apply to the SSB. Once the SSB knows of a your interest in speaking publicly about your experiences as a crime victim, you will receive an applicant packet. A personal interview is scheduled to access your readiness to take on the emotional stress that can come with public exposure. If accepted into the Bureau, you will be invited to participate in a weekend training retreat. Retreats are grant funded and come at no cost to participants. The training retreat focuses on crafting your message to different audiences, effective presentation techniques, managing audience questions, working with the media, working through stage fright, and self care.
